LTE-A Pro and 5G Capabilities in Atoll
Forsk LTE-A Pro and 5G capabilities webinar is dedicated to new Atoll features related to 3GPP release 13 and 14 specifications.
LTE-A Pro seeks to improve and optimise the capacity, performance, functionality and efficiency of LTE-A, as well as to further reduce latency, to provide a better user experience.
The following Atoll capabilities are being demonstrated in this webinar:
Massive MIMO
The Massive MIMO is an evolution of MIMO systems. Whereas in a common MIMO scenario there are up to 4x4 antennas the Massive MIMO uses tens or even hundreds of antennas. Atoll Massive MIMO settings and parameters and the impact on resulting network performance are described and shown in the software.
3D Beamforming (FD-MIMO)
Beamforming is a technology for eNodeBs to establish the best propagation direction to individual users, using narrow antenna beams. Its most important aspect is interference reduction to other users, thus, increasing the achievable data rates.
Atoll models beamforming using the smart antenna equipment. The beamforming algorithms support beamswitching and adaptive or conventional beamforming.
The FD-MIMO is a special case of Massive MIMO with beamforming. FD-MIMO beams in 3D and 2D are demonstrated.
Gigabit UE Categories
Category information is used to allow the eNB to communicate effectively with the UEs connected to it. The Atoll UE categories settings are described and shown in the Atoll GUI.
Carrier Aggregation
CA allows for individual connections to have higher bit rates. Atoll CA features are described for an intra-enodeB operation or inter-eNodeB.
Licensed Assisted Access and enhanced-Licensed Assisted Access
LAA was introduced in LTE Rel-13 for DL operation, and it was enhanced in Rel-14 to support UL. LAA Atoll support for both LAA and eLAA is demonstrated in the software.
LTE IoT (NB-IoT and eMTC)
The Atoll platform provides the NB-IoT module with the support for large-scale, country-wide deployments automated by the Atoll ACP. Atoll NB-IoT general features are presented.
